+ Siempre que una frase contenga el adjetivo but. La primera parte de la frase es contraria a la segunda parte de la frase.

Cuando una pregunta se hace utilizando la forma del presente continuo, la respuesta de la misma también utiliza el presente continuo.
  Ej: What are you doing? I am studying for a exam

Cuando en un mes se especifica un dia concreto se utiliza la preposicion ON
  Ej.: I go to Bilbao on 5th July
 si solo se refiere al mes o al año se utiliza la preposición IN
  Ej.: I go to Bilbao in July.  I go to Bilbao in 2016.

- Utilizamos las formas verbales was/were cuando nos hablamos de acciones que ya han sido realizadas, para las expresiones que hacen referencia a un tiempo pasado y cuando queremos decir cuando se produjo el nacimiento de una persona.
Ej.; I was in Portugal / You were yesterday in my house / She was born in 1962.
